A bit about me!
My path to becoming a therapist has been shaped by resilience, perseverance, and a deep commitment to healing. Becoming a mother at 21 meant navigating parenting while still making sense of my own upbringing. My mother’s absence after my parents' divorce left a mark that shaped me, creating both a strong sense of independence and, at times, a tendency to keep others at a distance.
Loss, physical abuse, and alcoholism weighed heavily on previous generations of my family system. Over time, I learned that healing is not about erasing the past, but about understanding it, holding it with compassion, and choosing a different way forward.
For 15 years my focus was on raising my children and doing my own healing work, driven by a deep desire not to repeat the patterns of my family system. Anxiety and limiting beliefs were sometimes a daily struggle. When that chapter ended, a new fear set in…but fear, like grief, has something to teach us if we let it.
My Origin Story
From the Barber Chair to the Therapy Chair
Alongside my path to becoming a therapist, I built a career as a barber. Growing up with my dad and younger brother, I developed a natural ease in connecting with men, and years behind the barber chair only deepened that connection.
The barbershop often became more than a place for a haircut…it was a space where humour, authenticity, and real conversations unfolded. We talked about relationships, stress, fatherhood, loss, and life transitions. Through thousands of these exchanges, filled with shared stories, laughter, and at times even tears, I witnessed how powerful it is for someone to feel genuinely heard, seen, and understood.
From the Barber chair, I came to embrace the nickname “The Barber Therapist,” a reflection of my ability to build trust, listen without judgment, and create a space where people feel safe to open up. These experiences continue to shape my work today, reinforcing my belief that healing often begins with authentic connection and the experience of truly being present.
I bring the real, the raw, and the perfectly imperfect version of myself into my life, and I support my clients to do the same. I have a deep passion for exploring and uncovering the truth of who people are beneath the layers of fear, expectation, and self-doubt.
I do this by compassionately holding space for people and supporting them through their big emotions. Over time, I’ve learned not to be afraid of these feelings or consumed by them, but to see them as valuable guides.
Our feelings often direct us to the parts of ourselves that need our love the most. While we cannot control everything that happens in life, we can shift what we believe about ourselves and the world around us.
The Heart of my Work
We cannot change or control the things that happen in life; however we can shift what we believe about ourselves and the world around us. My story is a series of experiences that have become a journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and learning to love all of my parts. The big picture is a beautifully complex portrait of fear and joy, loss and trust, grief and gentleness, abandonment and forgiveness, rejection and acceptance, pain and humour and ultimately, genuine self-love.
It would be an honour to support you on your own journey. You do not have to walk this road alone.
Whether you are navigating loss, trauma, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I am here…to listen, to hold space, and to help you rediscover the parts of yourself waiting to be seen, understood and known.
